Yep, I love them too, and the company who does most--Topo--does stunning work.

Most of all, I would LOVE to have a '95/96 coupe...





Really not a fan of some of the tacky (but difficult to do!) paintjobs, hydraulics, or midget wheels, but give me one that looks like a stock (or at least mostly...) car and I'd be in love.

Nice connies, and a LOT of work showing. Hey, has anyone ever seen a "Impala/Caprice Rear Window Graft Mod" done to a FW? The trunk lid would likely have to be shortened, but the roofline would flow so muck better than the LeBaron look of a FW. Who else thinks the rear pillar on our cars looks sorta dropped off and incomplete design? It obviously got torqued more upright at an ungraceful angle to clear blu-hair's heads from gettin' wapped getting in and out.

I agree with caddyguy109, I love the look but without the wild paint, small wheels and hydraulics. The coupe does look great but that door would be a pain to open in a tight parking spot.
96black made the comment regarding the slope of the rear window. I always thought that it was a bit heavy looking, but I think that if the trunk where a little longer it would be proportioned to the rest of the car. If you look at the early 70's caddies, they all have really long trunks which balances the front with the rear.

I think the Sixteen Concept did a great job pulling classic long hood and cab rear cues together with Chrysler's more recent "appears to be moving while standing still" short front overhang;





And yes, Tubb's connie on Miami Vice was a darling, but I'm not as much concerned with the trunk being stretched further. The trunklid could actually be shortened somewhat like the Sixteen's giving more of the "cabriolet" look - if that's the right term. That's what would obviously have to happen when grafting a Chevy backlite on a D-.



You see? There's just too much compromise and scraggly competing angles going on - 'heavy' like you say, and 'leftover' always come to mind looking at mine. It's a shame I don't got the $8-10k it would take for the grafting experiment.
