Well, just hit the one year mark today with my ’95 FWB. Time sure flew, and though not a huge amount has changed, taking a look back at my stack of receipts and all my pics, LOTS of smaller things have and continue to be improved and/or changed.

I bought it in very nice (a 1 owner local beach MD car that was garaged from new) shape with 117k miles and for $4500 from a local used car dealer—they got it from a new Chrysler dealer down the road where it was traded (I still assume on a 300C, but never did get in touch with the old owners yet). All trim was nice, paint was great, solid interior that just needed a more through cleaning, etc. And, more importantly, a random Autotrader find I never expected to see so close to home—I think that was a sign.

In the past year, it first sat for a few months while I was in school, then was my summer work commute car, and my to college and back and all around car until now—still only racked up 6k miles, which I didn’t realize until today, and which still seems low to me.

It’s also been a mainly trouble-free experience, aside from one big repair bill early on, to replace virtually everything fuel related in the rear of the car and re-doing the EGR and wiring for it after the last owner had it chopped up—and some other small items then. Also, as summer came about, it was clear the AC was not up to snuff—ended up being pretty much empty of refrigerant, but worked great after a recharge, died again by mid-summer and then had another recharge. Had dye put in the last time, but never checked things out again before it got cold, so maybe I’ll get it all sorted out leak-wise this year. Still, all in all, very few problems and clearly was a decently maintained car.

Mods and revisions still remain in the minor category, from cleaned and repaired leather to the new wheels & tires to the various replaced little trim bits and new head unit (last thing to come)—hopefully, one day not overly long away, if I still have it and also ever have a proper budget (hah!), more will be done in terms of performance and other areas. Largely fine right now, though, but may need some brake and minor tune up work come later this year.

So, all in all, it’s been a good year. Was turned on to these cars years ago, then REALLY so after the 2 TBI ones, so this ’95 LT1 in my favorite model and awesome colors was a great surprise. STILL annoys me, at times, too, and yes there are still “bad days” when I just don’t like it that much and start browsing at other cars (have actually been on that idea this week again)—but then just as many great days where sanity (and people) tell me how nuts I would be to ditch it for something newer and more lithe. If it ever gets to a suspension and performance level more fitting of my stronger desires, the itch will leave me more permanently—right now, it’s still really fun and better than the other 2 cars in most ways. Can’t make any promises, as I’m just a person who gets the itch for new all the time, but it should be with me or someone in the family—dad wants it EMPHATICALLY should the day I ever want rid of it arrive)—for a while.

Also, a quick pic or two to highlight the times and changes.

Then (ignore the $2194 DOWN stickers):

Now (from the summer, but nothing has changed outside):

I love how you have kept the classy look of the Fleetwood, while giving it a hint of sportiness.

Sweet car!

Nice rig.

Not to mention, snapping the 'delivery room' pics in the lot as proud new owner even before bringing your new baby home tells me you're trully one of us.

Thanks guys. Though not a huge amount of stuff has changed, or even some more of the things I really want, there's still a LOT of stuff that has when I think back to it.

Just hope the next year is as good, and I can get more driver-noticeable things accomplished along with more basic maintenance.
