Unhappy

I'm posting this here as I'm wondering about a specific part number for the FW's. I noticed while changing the oil the other day that one of my sway bar end links had broken off the control arm. Guess this explains why the FW has been leaning so much more than my other cars.

So I measured the old sleeves and came up with a 2 1/4" sleeve. This is the measurement Energy Suspension uses to suggest a part number for their replacement kits. They don't have a 2.25" kit so the closest one is a 2 3/8" kit (p/n 9.8125) or a 2" kit. I ordered the 2 3/8" kit along with a bushing set (figure I may as well do the whole thing).

Everything goes on nice and bolts up well. I lower the car and notice the front end is sitting a noticeable amount higher than before. Move the car and it feels like there is NO give in the suspension. I can't even push the bumper down!

Who (with a stock ride height) has done this and what did you use?

I'm not really sure I want to drive the car like this, it feels so tight, I'm afraid something might break.

Sorry for the marathon post!

do you have a stock bar or after market one?
also if you used a longer bolt the bar in the back is going to sit higher making the front lower, if yo used the same length it will sit the front like it was before, adn if is very stiff adn you have a aftemaket sway bar, it migth be sitting on the frame,

I have the stock bar. It's hard to tell if the bolts are the same as the original length as the old ones broke. As best I can tell though they are the same. I'll check the bar but I don't think it was hitting anything.

loosen tehn up a little and see if th ecar drops some , and if it does you will need longer ones or put some washer at the bootom of the of the bushing suport under the sway bar, this is on the link, to bring the bar up some. and the front down some

Red face

Thanks for the tips! I think I might have just realized what happened. I didn't have time to look this morning so I'll check when I get home.

I'll bet I pulled a stupid and put the bar in upside down. That would cause it to probably hit the frame right?

Grumble....good thing it doesn't take hours to pull the bar off....

Yeah, that is a bad thing to do and is kinda easy to do if not paying full attention.
The bar will contact the frame in the corners and break something. Most likely tear the u-clamp bolts out of the frame threads or just the u-clamp itself.

Good job noticing it!

Thanks but I shoulda been paying better attention to begin with.... It was upside down. Half an hour later it's in correct. Amazing how well it works when it's in right.

I'm just glad I didn't try to drive it...
