Cadillac is introducing a new flagship this year called the CT6. It is full-size and rear-wheel drive. It is a competitor of the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7-series.

Arrow What dreams may be...

A little of this is old news but adds to the transparent mystery. Scroll down to Kitman's interview from Feb 11th, 2015. Pretty candid and of some interst, I feel. Personally I am moved by the Buick Avenir and hope it is available here, not just in China. Would make a fine "last new car" for me!

Enjoy fanning the flame of hope,

I'm Trying to be nice -

- but I'm skipping over the CT6 in hopes of what I've read is purportedly coming after that one. For me the CT6 it's a severe case of "Needs Less Audi Skin". The "real" flagship is supposed to follow on later. Or not. If only there had been the teeniest allegiance to Ceil or Elmiraj then this upcoming Cady "coulda' been a contender". Now it just looks like a big Asian 'EU clone'. And I don't know if China still uses the 3.0 liter cap but the motor line-up appears lop-sided toward that market.

I caught an article on the Avenir and my kneejerk reaction is I should be seriously thinking of revisiting my earlier roots as a Buick man. At least this version of the Omega has a few freakin lines on it:

@ Richard - it's against my religion to buy a car new. Only 3 times in history; 2 SUVs for the wife. And of course my SS. But, if they end up putting a real motor in that Avenir I can seriously see myself in one after just a couple years of depreciation has washed off.

Thumbs up Avenir Video...

If you can stand to wait for it to load and get by the tequila advertisement, the Avenir video is worth the view. In my opinion, it is beautifully done and elegantly understated.

Robert Cumberford did a design analysis in May Automobile magazine a and there are videos of his visit to the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. This talerted me to its existance.

While I also cannot afford it new, perhaps I will still be around to enjoy one used, even if it has to come in from China.

Take a look here: http://www.on.aol.com/video/buick-av...view-518608485

http://www.caranddriver.com/features...ng-for-feature

Caught a few test drive vids. Generally supports initial assumption that this model is tailored as much or more for Chinese backseat passengers as it is for drivers. Except for Consumer Reports who state this model's lightweight design makes the steering feel "nimble", all other test drives report steering lacks responsiveness of German counterparts. 400pounds of torque from 3L is impressive, but AFAIC that's the motor's credit, not the car's.

And, spoiler alert there's this nerve-wracking spin by everyone with sidelong references to the BMW7 and an A8. - When in all honesty it only stacks up as a 5 1/2 or an A6+.

I'll go along with the title line:
'2016 Cadillac CT6: Not a Flagship, But a Leading Indicator
We're eager to drive it—but we're even more eager to see where it takes Cadillac.'
