Mirror glass

I need a driver side mirror glass for my car. When i search Rockauto it presents lots of different measurements. Were there more than one kind of outside mirror for the 1996 Fleetwood?
Im confused wich one to get.

Only one size of mirror was used in both '93-94 and '95-96. The mirror is the same as the B-Body. You need the ~8" diagonal size for the '95-96. The part numbers for the ~6-1/2" size are not for the Fleetwood.

I haven't looked at their listing but it's probably like so many other things for these cars. Retailers just lump all the front wheel drive stuff in with them, often even confusing Brougham, rear-drive and front Fleets from different years. The number of times I have seen Northstar parts listed for the D body is amazing.

Anyway, all the factory 95 and 96 Caprice, Imp, Roady and Fleet exterior mirrors are the same dimensions as far as I know. Whether they are all heated, tinted the same, etc, I don't know.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

The mirror is correct for your car. It is an aftermarket unit. If they are willing to ship internationally, the cost will be about $40. They should give you a discount in the amount of the shipping to the US, because it is included. I just shipped a pair of wagon tail lights to Switzerland, and shipping was $50.

The shipping was only 9.99$ to Sweden!! It surprised me so I clicked "buy" to see if it was correct and it seems to be right. Don´t ask me how that is possible!?? Most often I pay more for the shipping than the actual item.

I didn´t buy them yet though

is it really necessary to remove the whole door panel to replace the outside mirror?
My manual tells me so but it seems like the bolt are sitting behind the thin inner window trim. I broke the clips on one of my previous cars so I wanted to check here Before I go and do it again

The reveal around the glass is trapped by the door panel. you must remove the door panel to lift the front for access to the nuts that hold the mirror on. If you are just replacing the glass, it can be done without removing the mirror.

The clip holders on a FW are "welded" to the door panel. If one comes off, you can use a good epoxy to reattach it. The surfaces are extremely rough, and give the adhesive good bite.
