I just installed my AVIC N1 that I bought from a friend and today I attempted to watch a DVD-R dvd and i got error code 02-99. So I called up Pioneer to see if they could help me out. The girl on the phone basically read to me what I read 3 minutes earlier in the manual. Then she says well if it isnt any of the three reasons causing the error then you gotta send it in to get serviced. I said ok and hung up. Went online and searched everywhere and couldnt find any info on that code. I then asked around at work to see if anyone had a DVD I could test out in my car. A lady had a bootleg movie so I went outside and tested it and it worked fine with no problems. Then I got home and tried a DVD-R of Full Metal Jacket and it worked perfect in the car. So I have TWO questions:
1. What is Error 02-99 mean?
2. Are there any specific DVD's that the AVIC N1 will not play (ie. DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, etc...)?

I know this is a long post but I really wanna figure this out without having to send my AVIC out for 2 weeks to get serviced. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Also - Pioneer will turn around an avic n1 in about a week (don't ask me how I know) and wach what "new updated software" you download into your avic n1 unit if you want to keep waching dvd's on the MAIN screen while you're driving. the updates modify the way the bypass system works.

Miguel, I don't have that unit so I really can't help you out. But, try joining this group, http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/pioneermobile2 , and ask you question with them. They can probably help you out better than anybody else. Good luck.
