I'm looking for a raw LCD monitor to put in the hole left by my 1.5 DIN deck. I've relocated my deck to the center console and want a widescreen in the dash. Basically it needs to be a minimum of 7.5"x4" to fill the hole, but can be as large as 9"x5"; I don't mind if some of it is hidden behind the dash. This is the closest I've been able to find so far.
Please point me to some more sites who might have what I am looking for. Thanks.

I have a 2002 S10 blazer console with the slave cassette player in it. I'm going to widen the hole from the cassette player and mount a pioneer dvh-p5000mp in its place. I think I'm just going to go with the monitor listed above because I haven't been able to find anything better yet.

Thanks for the info.Did you have to do any special mods to the console to get it to fit?

Has anybody thought about buying an old laptop and taknig the monitor off of it? I bet if you knew somebody at a computer repair shop or something like that they could tell you what inputs you needed to send into the screen to make it work. Plus it is bigger and has higher resolution.

by 'raw' do you mean just the screen, without a case? if so, why not just buy a monitor and remove the screen from its shell?

I tried to take some pics of my deck mounted in the console, but they all came out too dark. It basically just consisted of trimming away plastic until it fit, it looks great IMO.
After shopping around some more I've decided to go with a name brand monitor, quality seems to vary quite abit even among the name brand screens. I think a Alpine tme-m760 would be ideal and it would fit behind the dash and show through the opening from the 1.5 din deck, but they are pricey, a Pioneer avd-w6200 is my second choice but it would have to be mounted in front of the dash because the buttons are mounted along the bottom of the screen and would be hidden if you mounted it in the dash.

Thumbs down

Laptop monitors are not composite capable. The built in video circuits are what operates those. If you have a small desktop LCD computer monitor they do make video to VGA converters that would work.
