Video on iPod

I have a Sony XNV-770BT, everything is working just can't view the videos from my iPod on the unit. Any ideas why this may be happening?

Probably not an Apple cable? I know on the iPhone and ipod touch around version 3.1 Apple made it so only their cable would show video.
