Z28 Clusters for '94-'96 Caprice/9C1/Impala SS and '94-'96 Roadmasters

PLEASE email me at [email protected] with any questions or to place an order.

I have been building, installing, and shipping Z28 Clusters for our beloved Caprices/9C1s/Impala SS for many years. Last year I began to offer Z28 Clusters for the ’94-’96 Roadmasters. Here is a revised post for the Z28 Cluster offerings I have.

For the ’94-’96 Chevys:
I take one of my Z28 Clusters, build my own custom harness so it plugs into your dash connectors, trim the outside of the housing, check and clean all of the bulbs, check the calibration of all the needles, set the odometer to whatever you want. I include a tach signal wire with the correct PCM pin (except the ’96 Impala SS since the car is already wired for the tach signal). Included is a polished (used) lens or an optional new GM lens, and can also install white needles in place of the red needles (think ’96 Impala SS) as an option. I can also make the needles any color you might want.

Please note that you lose the Low Washer Fluid, Change Oil, Door Open & Gate Open (wagons) and Low Fuel lamps. You also no longer have a PRNDL with the Z28 Cluster (perfect for floor shift conversions or 6-speed cars). Also, to allow the Z28 Cluster’s oil pressure gauge to display actual oil pressure on civilian cars, you will need to replace the oil pressure switch with a 9C1 oil pressure sending unit, and remove a factory resistor in the wiring harness above the glove box.

Pricing for the Chevys is as follows:
’94-’96 Caprice/9C1 and ’94-’95 Impala SS for $285 shipped (within the 48 States) with used polished lens, $310 shipped with a new GM lens.
’96 Impala SS (which includes my purchasing a tach signal divider and building it into the harness so the tachometer displays properly) for $385 shipped with used polished lens, $410 shipped with new GM lens.
White needles (or any other color needle) instead or red needles $25.
9C1 oil pressure sending unit $30.

You can save $50 off the above pricing if you already have your own Z28 Cluster and send it to me, I will complete the above listed modifications and ship it back to you.
If you can send me the connectors from a digital B-body cluster you can save an additional $25.

For the ’94-’96 Buick Roadmasters (sedan and wagons):
I take one of my Z28 Clusters, build my own custom harness so it plugs into your dash connectors, check and clean all of the bulbs, check the calibration of all the needles, and set the odometer to whatever you want. I assemble it all with one of my custom faceplates in matte black. I include a tach signal wire with the correct PCM pin, and a used polished lens. I can also paint the faceplate whatever color you can provide me, or cover the faceplate with (stick-on) carbon fiber or woodgrain (to closely match the Roadmaster interior woodgrain). In keeping with the Buick factory gauge look, I can also install white needles in place of the red needles as an option.

Please note that you lose the Low Washer Fluid, Change Oil, CRUISE, Door Open, Gate Open and Low Fuel lamps. You also no longer have a PRNDL with the Z28 Cluster (perfect for floor shift conversions or 6-speed cars). Also, to allow the Z28 Cluster’s oil pressure gauge to display actual oil pressure, you will need to replace the oil pressure switch with a 9C1 oil pressure sending unit (no additional wiring involved in the Buicks).

The pricing for the Buicks is as follows:
’94-’96 Buick Roadmaster (Sedan or Wagon) with matte black faceplate for $385 shipped (within the 48 States).
Other (than matte black) painted color faceplate adds $15.
(Stick-on) Woodgrain or Carbon Fiber faceplate adds $35. (Stick-on carbon fiber has very limited availability).
White needles (or any other color needle) instead or red needles $25.
PRNDL installed $65.
CRUISE indicator $50.
9C1 oil pressure sending unit $30

You can save $50 off the above pricing if you already have your own Z28 Cluster and send it to me, I will complete the above listed modifications and ship it back to you.
If you can send me a ’94-’96 Roadmaster cluster (or the connectors from a ’91-’96 Roadmaster cluster) you can save an additional $25.

PLEASE email me at [email protected] with any questions or to place an order.

Thank you for looking.

I did my own Z-28 cluster on my RMW and can attest to the fact that the oil change light and the low fuel light cannot be done on a Z cluster. Making the other lights work is possible but it requires a new gauge face and the OP might have to re-engineer his harness to make it work which would add considerable work and cost. I can also attest to the fact that modding one of these clusters and making it work is a hell of a lot of work. I'm glad I did my own cluster but I think a plug and play cluster is definitely worth what he's asking.

Sorry guys, looks like the site that was hosting my pics... isn't allowing them to display at the moment. I will figure it out.

The '93 Z28 Clusters (yellow lettering and tick marks) do have a CHANGE OIL lamp position, the '94-'96 Z28 Clusters (white lettering and tick marks) do not have one.

There is no Low Washer Fluid lamp, CRUISE, Door Open, GATE Open, or Low Fuel lamps on any of the LT1 Z28 Clusters. All of the above lamps (except for the Low Fuel) are just simple on/off switched signals. I can make other (normally unused) lamps in the Z28 Cluster illuminate, but I cannot change the lettering in the cluster face without making it look crappy. The '94-'96 Z28 clusters have a SKIP SHIFT, LOW TRAC and an ASR lamp that are not used for a B-body conversion. For the Roadmasters, I use the ASR lamp position to create a CRUISE indicator...but I am only able to do this since the ASR bulb is in an area by itself, and has it's own surrounding gauge face (easier to see in a picture than to describe).

The Low Fuel lamp in the B-body clusters is part of a circuit built into the actual cluster that, at a predetermined resistance reading from the fuel tank sending unit, will allow the Low Fuel lamp to illuminate. The Z28 Clusters do not have this circuit.

I'll work on getting the pictures to display again.

I can use the electrical connectors from the backside of the Roadmaster clusters, for when I build the harness that allows my Z28 Cluster to plug directly into the factory connetcors in your dash. The cluster connectors are the two 22-pin connectors on either lower corner of the cluster. These connectors will have two rows of 11-pins. If you look at the backside of a Roadmaster cluster, you can't miss the connectors.

I am still working on getting the pics to display again. I found out that the same people that own this forum now own the site I had linked to my pictures from. I will get them back up as soon as they figure out what has happened to them.
