PWM VFD Replace Radio

So I have a 1995 Buick Roadmaster with an aftermarket radio. So we all know about the gray wire and the purple wire. And the issue with dimming the vacuum fluorescent display on the A/C control unit. I did the typical solution of wiring a circuit board from an old radio. looks like this:

I tried something different by wiring this:

I wired this thing up and it worked great, with one exception. The result was something like the opposite of what I wanted. I was excited because it worked at all, the problem was that when I adjusted to low dim the display got brighter, and when I turned the knob for high brightness, the A/C display got dim.

Any input?

So did you come up with any alternate solutions?
I ordered a different DC to PWM circuit board that I am going to try out. I was even thinking of buying this thing labeled as LED dimming controller, but that's $30, and I fear the same results as last time. I'm not really sure what's going on with the module I tried. Like I said it works in the opposite manner, but it actually works better than the factory radio. The range of brightness was much greater.

i gave up after searching ebay and amazon for a pwm convertor and couldnt pick one. i was on youtube and saw one that was a dimmer control and i was going to get it but i couldnt get the guy to respond back to find out which one it was. if you could put the pics up on another hosting site i think they will work.

I don't know why it's not working for you, works for me on multiple devices. Lately it has seemed to be a crappy host, I'll agree.
Try looking at these:

The first pic is the module I used and the other three are someone elses pictures, but the same idea of using the factory board.
check this out too: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PQASDX0?psc=1
This was something I was thinking of trying, but I think it's too expensive just to try, but maybe worth it if it works.
