Cabin / HVAC Incoming Air Filter

Hey folks,
While going thru some service on my wiper washer not firing, I removed the wiper motor from the firewall. There was a filter which went down to the blower motor assembly.

I did some searching before posting this, and didn't see any threads adressing the issue.

Has anyone replaced this filter, and can you supply a P/N? The filter is 8-1/4" wide X 6.00" deep X 1-1/4" thick.

The PNs on the side read: "T4FWBPP GERMANY 07-257" followed by "AIR FLOW"

Someone stuck it in there. It is not a original part. The fact that it got sucked into the blower, is proof of that. There is a thread on building a bracket to hold a filter over the intake, but the cars did not come with a filter in that place. Caprice Cabin Filter

Fred,
The filter didn't get sucked into the blower motor, it was sitting above the opening in the cowl.

I do recall the bracket design that someone came up with. I may have to look into that since I have a good sheet metal fab shop, that I use with my job.

Two Cabin / HVAC Incoming air intakes?

I have not looked into this myself but many members say there are 2 intakes, the one on the cowl and one from under the car. If this is correct you would have to filter both.

A good search word for this topic is "mice". From the first page of this search I will quote two people:

There is one intake. The other hole is a drain for rainwater. It is supposed to have a flap over the end, but the flap is usually shrunken and will go both ways. A larger flap that covers the end, and only swings out would be the best mod. Putting a large enough filter on the intake for the HVAC would not restrict flow much.


I thought about putting a baffle system on the HVAC intake to make sure water stays out.


Varmints will use the filter material for nesting, so keeping them out is an important issue.


It would be nice if the Climate Control system had a button to recirculate the air at all times, with maybe the addition of 10% fresh air.
