I just recently got some woodgrain bezels for the extreme low price at a yard and stripped them down with acetone. Was wondering if anyone has painted any of their bezels and if so how'd they turn out?
Is it worth just buying fresher ones and calling it a day?
They aren't quite the same in the roadies, but I painted all of mine along with parts of my dash gloss black with Krylon fusion paint. They turned out really well and haven't shown any signs of pealing or wear of any kind. I think it's been almost a year since I did it now.
That's what I used but want to mask off some areas and go back over with a DCM. It will be in my interior upgrade thread coming soon. Just needed some confirmation as to the durability.
ive had great sucess painting interior surfaces with dupli-color high performance spray paint for vinyl & fabric. ive done whole interiors with it. this universal stuff sticks to anything. ive had some plastic pieces painted low gloss black now for about two years and they still look great thats Alot to say considering the interior of a car down here in miami can easily reach 100+ degrees in the summer and stay like that all day.
mine would bubble up so scuffed it primed it then scuffed it then
used an adhesion promoter then used the duplicolor. worked out well so i could darken the paint to near my cars exterior color
I had some great results, I first just scuffed everything with 120 grit, it looked and felt smooth, even after I used the adhesion and primer, when I applied the actual base coat the paint started to sort of wrinkle up, so where it wrinkled, I peeled the paint back and underneath it looked smooth again, as if I didnt scuff it up. I realized theres a plastic film on top, as you can see in the before pic of 305 classic, so I used some 80 grit and really sanded past the clear, and I did the same exact step adhesion, primer, and then basecoat, then clear coat and it came out great.
Hil I can't believe u ain't ask me...I mean I know probably felt like typing onthe forum instead of calling ,that's cool ....I hope ur stiches pop on ur seats..LOL sike jaw then I'll have to do them all over

yup, just the woodgrain. you could do what i did with the gray ones, i don't know how they would look in the end because i noticed the grey ones fade weird. theres also a guy on here that sells the black ones for about $22 a pair, only problem is they don't have the cutout for the window lock.
Hey what was your process before painting the bezels because mines look just like that but trust me when I say my end results were not like that! Mines wrinkled up (the paint) when I sprayed it on there! And on top of that I used gloss black which looks good for the door panels but not the bezel.
Yeah man threads may get old but the concepts always the same. Guys are always trying new things on the bbody. So you didn't sand that shiny coat off the woodgrain?? The scuff pad was enough?? Or was that for cleaning purposes? I only ask because I just sprayed my bezel that was just like that but with gloss vs flat (horrible outcome) and although I sanded it with 180 grit it came out wrinkled in spots Valspar spray?? Where did you get that, local?? I've been hearing of sem and duplicolor but never valspar. I swore you mentioned you used duplicolor. Sorry for so many questions but you did such a good job. Looks proffesional and its just a bezel.
Ok I get it now. I was thinking valspar was a spray paint (not primer) and now I get what you mean about how you used sem for the "door panle" and not the bezel. And oh I can see the difference looks really good! Does sem sale gloss and flats?? Because I basically want mines to look factory when I'm done. But I'm using black.
Yeah I did sand mines (well atleast I thought I did). I used 180 grit I think but still didn't do what I wanted it to. I'm going to have to sand it smooth again before I spray another coat.
Man you a fool cory black! Lmfao. You be having me over here cracking up off your posts. (A before but no after). Make sure you get them afters up because I'm anxious to see the outcome. Make sure to put what you used and your process/experience! Oh and off topic but you had me cracking up on your exhaust sound clip sayin' that ain't how you sound lmfao!
i'm not hating on this what so ever but this was the reason I didnt go with the gloss because you can see those little dots in the paint and it just bugs me
also to help you out a little if your trying to use SEM the color code for the medium grey is 15393

are you talking about the dust specs towards the bottom? the right one had been sitting a few days. thats not gloss black silly man its flat black with lots and lots of clear lol. Also not medium grey thats silver
irrelevant but
9c1ss - dont judge me lmao i just trimmed that video im taking that version down.
i used duplicolor filler primer, duplicolor adhesion promoter, and this. basically all these
on the door bezels i used sandable primer when they were blue.
i liked the flat black look that i had but there was nothing to protect itl so i went with a different look
i mean the point of modding isnt to go back the same route lol. ill have the bezels painted this weekend no
wrinkles i promise lol
