I got hold of some courtesy lights for the rear doors which came of a Roadmaster. First I have to dye them the right color and them I'm gonna install them. Can I just pull some wires from the front doors and tap some juice from these all the way to the rear doors?

I also have some reading lights (with the coat hook) which I'm gonna install in the back of my 1991 Caprice Classic.

No way that there are some wires already lying around beneath the headliner?

You can run the reading lights off the dome light wires. As for the courtesy lights on the doors, I believe that most cars have the wiring already there, just not used. Not sure if that is only for the front doors, or for all four.

If your rear doors don't already have orange and white wires with a black connector for the door lights, you can find these wires going up the B pillar between the drivers side front and rear door. The wires come from the floor harness and run up to the dome light.

My 93 already had the wiring for the rear door lights also, so I don't know if maybe all 91-93 received the wiring???

The rear seat reading lights use the same orange and white dome light wires.
Orange wire- Constant +12V at all times
White wire- Switched to ground by door jamb when door open.

For the rear seat reading lights, connect the third wire to a constant ground. The lights will come on when the door opens, and the switch on the lights will use the third constant ground wire to turn on the lights when doors are closed.

The roadmaster door panel lights fit the Caprice door panel?
The 91-93 Caprice has the opening for the lights in the rear door panels, but has a plug covering up the hole. This is because the Roadmaster and the Caprice shared the same door panel in those year models. Now in 94 when the Roadmaster changed to its own door panel design, GM no longer put the cut outs with the plugs in the Caprice rear door panels. 94-96 Caprice and Impala do not have the openings for the rear lights.

I've thought about this myself. I think you could cut out the opening in the rear door panel for the light to snap into and as long as the hole isn't two big the light trim should cover up any rough edge. The only thing is that the light would sit on top of the door panel instead of actually fitting flush into the panel like the front doors. Really the only reason I haven't tried it is that the pair of rear RM lights I have are not tan and I can't find a pre mix spray of SEM or other brand of plastic dye that matches the 95 Tan.
If you or anyone else gives this a try, please post pictures.
