intermitten squeak from compressor

Anyone ever had a very loud intermittent metal squeak come from there compressor? Driving me nuts.. at a stop it's there but not as loud as while I'm accelerating it sounds(95 caprice 9c) dont really want to replace since it is still blowing cold just need a way to get rid of the noise

You could try replacing just the clutch.

Fred is dead-on. The compressor clutch is your problem.

Friend of mine (supersporty) has a Blazer Xtreme doing the exact same thing right now. Gun the engine and it sounds like aluminum foil being fed into bicycle spokes.
