Cut Open Pressure Tank and Heater Core

Few weeks ago I serviced the cooling system on my 94 Caprice B4U I had bought earlier this year.Has 84k miles. I decided to cut open the pressure tank and heater core.Much of the solids mess in the tank is actually plastic shavings from cutting it in half.
I think the heater core and press tank are basically the "catch-all" for debris in the system. The tank didn't have a super heavy build up,but more like a thin brown layer substance. The heater core inlet side was definitely clogged up.I replaced these parts as well as hoses, flow restrictor,T-fitting,cap,T-stat,etc...with new GM.

Thought I'd share these in case anybody here was curious what the insides look like. The tank is chambered, with small square flow passages and the low level sensor is built in not replaceable.

Jim

The next time someone posts a "my heater's not working", post one of these pictures. A picture is worth a thousand words!
