Which Single Din Adapter

I'm getting ready to put what I hope will be a decent stereo in the Impala and the adapter that's in there now is the extended faced one. The stereo doesn't sit flush but sticks out. Are all the Impala single Din adapters like this or are they different? I really want a flat one.

I've got too many amps and speakers right now and I'll be selling the leftovers when I'm finished. This will be my first sound quality build since I put a brand new 1250 watt (It said so on the box)Audiovox power booster in my brand new 1969 Charger. It's been a while.

Also going to need a source for some 1/0 OFC power wire and install goodies. Any SQ guys on this here forum that can help guide me down a righteous path?

I'm going to be getting back into the Impala SScene this year and will be attending some of the events. My last one was in St. Louis a while ago and I had a great time. Also, anyone else going on the Hot Rod Power Tour this year. My Nephew and I went last year and had a ball. Thanks for any help.

All that I've seen/used are like that for our cars. I've gotten used to it over the years but here is my setup with the Face sticking out as you described.

What I've found is that any kits offered for our cars are like this. When I reached out to Crutchfield, I asked them why on such a Big car with a big dash does this have to stick out like it does. Due to the depth of most aftermarket Radio's and the Shallow area in the Pocket, they just can't sit the radio back in there flush.

Cant remember for certain what was there, but maybe you could get creative and cut up the inner dash area to allow the radio to sit back further. I was not prepared to cut into the dash like that and can't remember if it was doable without really cutting something important. Also can't remember if the 1.5 Dinn units (like offered from Pioneer) that fit the factory opening also need to stick out like that. May be worth looking at one of those units but they are pricey.

Worth considering the next time I need to pull the dash face. In looking up info on the 99-3300 kit, I found this thread on the long roof Forum....

http://gmlongroof.4umer.com/t5495-1-5-din-dash-kits

It also mentions a Metra 99-4000 kit that some have used and it also has a storage slot built in. It does look like in using either, there may still be some cutting required. If it's too extreme, I may just decide to keep the kit in there now. Do you remember if you had to cut anything for this to fit?

I just installed a stereo in my Caprice and used that same Metra 99-3300 kit. I did have to cut a small portion out that was behind the stock stereo (which would have been much easier if I had my dremel at the time.)

The kit allows the stereo trim piece to sit against the main portion of the kit, or make it so the stereo itself is basically flush with the kit (inset in the bracket.)

I really like it compared to the kit you said you have now (I had one in my old caprice)

I'm going to be installing a subwoofer soon and I purchased some stuff that seems to be good quality from knuknoceptz.com

the output quality of the those 1.5 din pioneers (PH77DH?) is not as good as as the latest head units.
plus no usb or bluetooth as their design is as old as our cars.

I have the Scosche version of this, it does stick out somewhat.
don't remember but I may have kept it out because of the tilting faceplate to insert CDs.
