I want to run 2 12" subs and keep my stock spare. As well as have a little trunk space. I bought 2 12" 900W Fusion PowerPlant subs dual voice coil and i can run 2 or 4 ohm. What ever that means.. I also bought 2 sealed boxes with approx 1.25 cuft of air space. My question is will this work? Right now I'm also looking for a good amp that will power these 12s... any suggestions? All the local stereo shops are giving me mixed info. I think they just want to sell me anything that may work. I want WILL work. Ive read a few posts and it looks like i may want to cut a hole in my rear deck for sound purposes as well as take out the material behind the back seat, and from what i read i will want to face the speakers twords the back of the car. Any info will be greatly appreciated. The front speakers are boston Acoustic and are working fine with a 200w kenwood powering them as well as the polk audio 6x9s. The stereo is great but i need more base.

with 2 12s id say your gonna get more bass..LOL...i have 3 10s, wired 4 ohm to a kenwood 600w amp, and its plenty loud for me. Id say get a Good amp, not like a "bazooka or jensen" get a Percision power, Pioneer, Kenwood, or another Well known tested and true name, for 2 12s id say get at least a 600w amp. Im not really an audio expert,
It could also help to do a search on amps and sub box enclosures, or Page Steve Cornell, he will REALLY know, what you want to know.

I'd get the spec sheets on the subs. You need to know their RMS power capabilities. The 900w is probably their PEAK power. From there look for an amp that meets those.

Jon: I still gotta hear that

real good point greg, like he says, just cuz the subs say 900w doesnt mean put a 2 900 orlike a precision power 1800w amp to them...they wouldt survive too long...
Greg next time we go to the track ill leave the whole trunk setup installed so you can take a look and hear it...my times will suffer even more though...haha

if they are rated at 900 max that might mean that the speakers are 450 watts rms. the rms is the power number you want to look at. see what your spec sheet says then figure out what load you want to run with your subs. are the voice coils dual 4ohm or dual 2ohm or dual 8 ohm or something inbetween. it makes a big different when you buy a 2000w amp and run it at 16 ohms. you should want the ohm's at about 4 each, so that in parallel you get 2 ohms and then can get a decent amp in that range. the jbl amps are pretty impressive aswell as phoenix gold, us amps, orion, zapco the list goes on.

if the subs are dual 4ohm u will get a 4 or 1ohm load.if they are i would get a jbl 600.1 to run them. i have a 600.1 and i have ran it at 4,2,1, and .5ohm daily and had no trouble with it. me and my friends have tested the 600.1, memphis 1100d, and a rockford fosgate 225.2. the 600.1 was .5 db louder than the 1100d, and .3 db louder than the 225.2. the best place to find the 600.1 is on ebay, they sell for about $190-200 shipped brand new. good luck.
