Question

I built a sub box that fits right under the rear deck so there's no room for any rear speakers. Has anyone tried placing them anywhere else? For what it's worth, I'm planning on using smaller speakers in the rears anyway (possibly 5.25"). Where can I fit speakers like these? Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,
A

you might want to leave the rear speakers out all together and leave those holes open for the bass to get out of the trunk, then upgrade your fronts or add an amp to them and you will be happy. with subs in the rear it kills the need for rear speakers cause you can't hear them.

That is the setup i have right now. It sounds good, but i was concerned about rear passengers hearing more than just bass. Plus i wouldn't mind have a little bit of rear fill. Just wondering if anyone had tried any different setups in the back.

Thanks,
A

if u have the depth try putting 5.25s in the rear a pillar and pointing the tweet forward if they move. me and a friend have put 6x9s in the rear a pillar of a caddy and it sounded good and was way louder. hope this helps.

Ael96SS,
I had a sub box in the rear deck once as well. I just relocated the speakers further back on the rear deck and closer to the middle. I definately would reccomend keeping them in. When i did mine the whole rear deck had to be fiberglassed so I was no big deal to add the speaker and tweeter holes. Here are pics of my setup. Now there's an amp in my rear deck instead of the subs. But i am changing systems configutations once again and putting my 3 12's back in the rear deck. http://community.webshots.com/user/sean96ss
If you have any other questions I will be more than happy to answer them. Good Luck

on my first caprice sound quality competition car, i put a set of 5.25 components in a custom fiberglass enclosure over the rear quarter windows.
it was easy to do and sounded great. and if you decide later to change it, then you just replace the plastic window trim panel.email me if you have any questions. i think i still have pics. you should see the roadmaster that i put a vcr in the drivers door!!!
