Question

Install 8" subs on the baffle board and then build two boxes around them. And when I say baffle board I mean the baffle board thats included in the famous trunk kit behind the spare tire. Looks like there would be enough room. Has anyone thought about this or even done it?

Thanks

I was thinking about it the other day, but I was wondering if I could still do it with 10s. Now as for how well it would work, I dont know. I would think that it would, but I am by no means an audio expert.

Im allready in the process of doing this in my Caprice. I Have the Baffle board and 2-8" Kicker Free Airs on the board allready! Since I Dont need Bass that Thumps (ie: Rattles the sheet metal) and just low end fill, Im designing 2 Small boxes made out of MDF And see if they Improve the Bass response Any? I'll post pics and info when I Get them complete!

Not sure where the pics are (but know they are online), but HACK has done something similar to this before.....with 10" woofers.

Basically, 2 boxes that went up to the baffle board, and fit AROUND the spare tire!

If you have a baffle board and place a board behind it and pack inbetween them with pillow stuffing or yellow wall insulation, the backing board is not sealed just cover the back of the speakers with the stuffing and use the 2nd board to hold it in place, you will need to play with how dense to stuff it to get the desired sound.
Search elsewhere for Aperiodic Enclosures if you want to know more....

that isdea i think is a great one. i would consider using liquid nails to complete the connections between the boards for a secure airprof seal and wood screws. i dont see why it wouldnt work, and give u better bass.

Check out this link, Their making Aperiodic Enclosures for a B-Body (Inc Pics). They look
great but a fair amount of work involved in making them!

Someone should mass produce those enclosures! They look awesome. I ordered the baffle board that was precut for 10 woofers and I have yet to install anything on it. If anyone has pics, please send some so I can see how the finished product looks. This would be awesome. Everything would be out of the way and hidden, except for the amp.

Thanks guys
