I had my friend try and install his used amp, it kept blowing fuses in the amp or the inline fuse from the battery. There is no short in the cable, when the cable is disconnected from the amp the fuse does not blow, it just blows when you try and plug it in the amp. It a Jenson, couple years old, I paid 35 bucks for it the install was free, so he said he would comp me or give me credit for a new one. Apparently it had moisture/condensation when he first picked it up, he says he can usually open it and fix it.

I was thinking just get a new amp, is this common?

I had an amp that did that. It was audiobahn, it's been on paperweight duty for a few years now.

That was the best thing I could have done with that amp.
