This is a question for a friend who wants to know if and how you can connect a laptop to the car stereo and use it to play Mp3s.

Any help would be appreciated....

It could be done, but for the time, effort, and cables you would go through you might as well just buy a deck that already plays mp3s. You would be limited by the battery power on the laptop, plus it would be a pain to use while you were driving.

Basically I would think you would hook it up the same way you would a portable CD player though.

Actually depending on what kind of stereo he has you can do it quite easily. I constantly use my laptop in rental cars with cassette players via a mini stereo to cassette jack. I also have a lighter plugin inverter (12V DC to 120V AC) to keep the battery charged in my laptop while I'm playing my mp3's.
You can also do an in car computer as seen in my wagon at http://sportwag.mp3car.com

4DRHTRD: He has got a newer Kenwood cd/radio. So basicly all he need is a cable from the Pcs audiocard to the aux??
He wants to be able to bring it with him quick.

This is like what I want to do in my post
https://www.impalassforum.com/cgi-bin...c&f=5&t=000468
I want a pig tail headphone jack plug to run out of my dash to use with whatever(mp3 player, tape, gba, Ect..). I have an aux input on my sony head but you need some setup to plug into the control wires to fool the head into switching to the aux jacks.

I have the cable.
Just need to find or make a switch.
Anyone have info on doing this?

Mike that Built in pc rocks. With it all the way back there at high g-forces does the HD skip?

Chris you need a XA107 for that Sony to make it accept an aux input via the changer RCA's. I just happen to have one for sale for $80 including shipping....

Mattia-SS all he needs then is a mini-stereo to RCA adapter to go from the headphone output of the laptop to the RCA input on the deck, piece of cake!

Another thing is possibly mounting a lowend PC. I'm currently in the works of getting all the stuff needed (just waiting on my LCD to be shipped)

a good basic guide or just a place to get ideas or look at is
