So I got down to it last night and started the install of my Rockford Fosgate head unit and Pyramid EQ. Took all of the dash trim pieces off to see what I could see and figure out a way to make it all work. Kinda fun poking around under the dash.
I had hoped to put the Head Unit in the normal radio location, and put the EQ in the air conditioning control location. No dice. While moving the AC controlls would be a fair piece of work (but not impossible), I couldnt come up with a way to make the then moved AC panel look good in any other location. ****. Oh well. Back to the drawing board.
So far I've settled on putting the EQ where the ashtray used to be. Looks OK there, and wont require and custom fabrication to reloated the AC panel. Will post some pics when I'm done.
P.S. I'm also intending on putting an LCD screen in the dash, but with a twist. Instead of spending $1000+ and taking up a DIN space somewhere for a motorized indash unit, I'm working on a way to put the LCD on a drawer roller and have it fit into the 1/2 DIN space under the HU. Want video? You just pull out a little tab, and out comes the LCD. Flip it up (or down, I havent worked that out yet) and you got it.... all for ~$900 less than a "real" indash unit (and it takes up less space).
