I'm considering a satelite radio system for my truck and wanted some input on experiences with this media. I need your advise on units and providers.

Moe,

Seeing that bas a## ride of yours around this board makes me think this might just be the only time that I could answer a question that you have, so I jumped on it! Right now, I think that XM radio is the only provider actually up and running. There is supposed to be another provider going live this summer, but we'll see. As far as equipment, when I looked, it seemed that Sony and Pioneer were a little ahead of everyone else when it came to true XM radio systems (built in - which there are not many to date) and the add on box. Good luck!

i agree...nice ride. I personally have xm radio. the service is great and i have yet to lose reception in so florida although others have told me mountains and valleys might affect it. sirius is the other provider. It is available now. its three dollars more a month w/ about half the channels w/ no commercials.XM does have a couple of channels that carry commercials but its about 10% of regular radio anyways...equipment wise i love pioneer but alpine & sony are both offering xm also.u can even get xm w/ your current radio w/ a piuoneer unit. check outxm radiofor whats available. i dont know hat music u listen to so i cant really say if their selection will work for u but at that website they have a chennel listing and they always play new stuff. they even have exclusives! i hope this helps some.

Thanks for your input!! I'm headed out the door to check out the systems. Looks like XM will be the provider...not sure if I'll go with the Pioneer or the Sony units. The Sony looks much more user friendly and adaptable.

Thanks Again!

I went with the Pioneer and a glass mounted antenna. It was an easy install. The service is awesome. Great sound and tons of stations...Thanks for the input
