Ok, I'm finally getting ready to upgrade my subs... (currently using 2 6.5" bazooka tubes running off an Alpine 2x35W amp... worked great in a supra, bit weak for an SS).
So I'm going with the baffle board/free air setup... I'm thinking the 10" JL Audio IB4s are the best free-airs around? If so, do I want 2 or 4? Any problems with getting the board cut for 4 and only using 2 holes at first? (dunno if the empty holes alter acoustics any).
And what amp do I want? the subs are rated 100W RMS...
Rest of the system is thus:
1 4x25 Alpine V12 amp (which I'm sure is putting out more than it's rated)
2 4x6 Alpine plate speakers in front doors (rated 40W RMS)
2 6x9 Alpine speakers in rear deck (rated 50W RMS)
Eventually I may upgrade the plate speakers to seperates and put in a bigger 4-channel amp to run the inside, but what I've got now already produces VERY clear sound up to the volumes I normally listen, it just lacks reasonable bass to match.
Sound quality is most important to me, but when listening to something like, say, George Thurgood, or Closer by NIN, the proper bass should be there.
Thanks for any advice!
ps- Any idea what a used Alpine 2x35 amp is worth?
