took some friends out in da SS tonight... they suggested that i port my rear deck so the bass can come into the cabin~???? is this a good suggestion or are they talking outta their ass?? i currently have two freeair 10's in the back... its sounds as it should, loose... my friends claim that it'll be tighter if i put some port holes....
Where are the free air subs at? On a baffle right behind the seat? If so porting the rear deck will hurt your bass.
When a speaker moves it creates a front wave and a rear wave. If the front wave and the rear wave interact, they will cancel each other out.. Normally a box contains the rear wave or in a ported box it tunes the rear wave to double, not cancel the front wave.
thanks for the reply zoso~ my subs are on the baffle board behind the back seats... thats what i told them and thought would happen, yet they insisted that i needed the port holes... buncha dummies...
