ALRIGHT!!!! It's all in and it all works! And the sound....the sound is nearly orgasmic! Well, not really. But its quality is eons beyond the grasp of the stock system. My reactions, in order:
1) The head unit comes on and I can hear music.....
2) The sound of Focal components and Kickers.....
3) Seeing my buddy's reaction of when he came over and put in his Linkin Park CD to track #5 ("the bass song").....
This is my first significant "modification" i have ever done on my own and it feels awesome. I'm not gonna count the father/son VW Bug project. Amazingly I still have all the trim pieces, but I'm not even going to begin to think about how many screws I've lost in the process. Anyone know where i can get some good replacements? Oh yeah. Before I forget, I'd like to thank all of y'all who helped me get my questions answered along the way. A special thanks to Scott Williams (HACK) for being so helpful with my trunk-kit questions and concerns. You guys are one of a kind.
Congats on getting it done. My ? is how do the kickers sound. I have been thinking of getting these but wasnt sure how they would end up sounding. Again congats on getting it done, I hope that I hope that I can when I start mine.
B-Body, I started putting everything back together and only have the driver rear door trim and back seat trim to go. I think i'll have all my screws, believe it or not. I found most of mine in the console
Lotus, in my honest opinion, I think the Kicker C10's sound great. After driving with stock 93 Grand Am, '00 Cavalier and recently '96 SS stereos anything is a billion steps up in sound quality. But back to the subs. For $35 each (<$100 including the shipping) these are great. I'm running the 2 in parallel off of my 5th channel on the amp. So each sub is getting 100W and it gets plenty loud for me. And the good thing is that my trunk, even when the stereo is seriously thumpin', doesn't get any annoying rattling sounds. If you are just looking for sound quality, save your money and get the Kickers. If you want everyone in the neighborhood to hear you 10 minutes before you pull into your driveway, get more pricey speakers. With all this fresh in my head, shoot me a line if you need any more questions answered
