I just have a few questions. I just installed a baffleboard w 2 12" Pioneer 8ohms being pushed with a GMH100 Pioneer amp. The stock deck is still being used. Im also running a Xover.
My first question is for you guys that are running freeairs. Are the subs u have rated for freeair. The ones I have are not and they sound great. The reason Im asking is because if Freeair subs perform different I would maybe buy some. If they dont, then why spend the xtra cash.
D u guys hit the really LOWs? I mean the bone shaking lows. My subs get good lows but I want more.
Will adding 2 more subs increase my bass? ( kindofa dumb question huh )
What is the prefered brand of subs to run as freeair? Im a Pioneer freak but might consider switching if its worthit. The brands I dislike are Rockford and Kiker.
Does anyone run MA audio? My dealer in town has em but they run at 200 clams each.. They look sweet too. They weigh about 50lbs tho lol
Thats all for now, but Im sure there will be more questions later..
Pioneer actually makes a free air speaker,
I don't know how they sound though. But i will soon find out, becuase I just picked up
4 of them and will be installing them in my trunk, along with some rockford amps and a audio control eq/crossover.
My question to you is did you have to remove any of the seat cushion to have the sound flow thru, or do you just fold down the rear armrest?
thanks in advance
I dint have to remove anything at all. I was really surprised that the sound came tru just fine.
I sealed my trunk and the sound seemed to be tighter I. Whayt I did was get some sealant ( adhesive caulk ) and aplied it all around the baffleboard to keep the air from flowing back into the trunk. Im also gonna continue sealing the rest of the holes that allow air from the trunk to mix with the air in the cab.
Thanx for the reply and let me know how them Pioneers run. Are you installing 4 of em? Howmany Ohms are they rated at?
Most subs aren't rated for free air. Something interesting though... The infinitys aren't rated for free air, but in their catalog, they state that they can be used for free air, but you have to cut the RMS power going to them by 1/2.
Dont go by my word on it, contact your sub dealer.
