Thanks for the input on head units I've decided on a Nakamichi CD45Z. Now for door speakers. I have read that the 6.5's can be installed and this seems like the best option. Is it worth the extra money to get a component system with separate tweeters and a crossover. What are the advantages of these over a std speaker? It looks like the separate tweeters would fit in the forward corner of the front doorsnear the A-Pillar.
How much more difficult is this install? Anything else I need to be concerned about?
How much cutting up of the factory will be required?

Well nice head unit choice, they sound very nice

COmponets are definatly worth it, but before you commit you have to commit to an amp, most componets work best if you aim that at your head....

Now the crossovers assures that the tweeter dosen't try to play really low frequencys or the midbass try to play way to low of frequencys ect..... it gives them greater potential for getting loud and sounding good, and seperate speakers really helps big time because they can play different notes instead of playing 2 at one time, often the midbass is also stronger with a more detailed tweeter, theres nothing going through the midbass like wires either

I'm not sure I explained it good sorry, but trust me componets are the way to go, what ones are you looking at? what amp? I'd imagine you want some thing to compliment your nice Nak cd player

71fleetside said it, componets are the way to go especially the way the door speakers are aimed in these cars. It's all about sound imaging and when you seperate the sound it is more realistic with less distortion. Good power is a must with almost all componet sets.

I have just started looking (at component speakers) and they are quite a few in the 175 to 275 range. Nak makes a set for about $225.00 I thought it couldn't hurt to go with the same brand.

With the deck, these components and a Din 1.5 to 1 install kit I'll be to about $600.00. (about the most I wanted to spend right now) The deck has 43W X 4 internal power would this be OK and work for now? I could then look at adding an amp later?
Or would a good pair of 6.5's (non components) sound better with no amp?

Well the Nak speakers are actauly pretty nice, Focal is a good option I think www.thezeb.com still has some

go ahead and buy them but I insist you buy a 100x2 at 4ohm amp later, you won't be terrible impressed with them powered by the deck, the coaxils might be better BUT you'll be happier with an amp and componets later down the road, its worth waiting a little bit on if you can, just like buying good wheels I say wait till you can get some thing nice, not skimp out on it

I just went to the store to check out some speakers and the Focal was definately the best. To my surprize Nakmichi sounded the worth.
P.S > It was the cheapest focal line.

Forgot to say that I just installed the complete system into the 2001 Dodge Ram , we used 6x9 in front doors, and 6.5 in the back made by MB Quart, sounds very nice.
