I've got an '06 Silverado and want to hook my ipod up, but I don't want those little fm transmitter thingy's. I looked into the Harmon Kardon one, but it too runs through the fm frequencies. Are there any other choices out there without having to go to an aftermarket head unit?

BTW, I have the GM indash 6 disk changer with the BOSE system.

There's an idea of what you want; something that'll plug directly into your head unit. I don't know too much about OE head units, but I'm guessing since you have a cd changer you have some sort of AUX port, which can then be used or piggy-backed off of to plug the ipod adapter in. For my Pioneer head unit, I have an adapter cable hat plugs into the AUX port on the back on one end and plugs into the ipod on the other. It charges the unit and lets you use it to navigate songs which I prefer over navigating through the radio. Look around on www.pac-audio.com for more info.

You might be able to plug the IPod in that way, but it doesn't give you the advantages that an IPod ready deck would give you. Namely, control of the IPod from the deck, and power to the IPod to keep it charged. Basically fill the IPod, then hide it away and forget about it.

Actually, I believe it does. Scroll to the bottom of page 3 HERE and look at the AUX-POD

There is a guy who sells on eBay that converts stock radios with an input jack.

I bought one for my RMS:

I installed it a couple of weeks ago.

He also does some maintenance on the radios, replaces anything worn, burnt out bulbs, etc.

Here is his ebay info:

Hope this helps.
