I had a pyramid last for years, and then sold it. The Planet Audio just seems a touch better. Here is the Pyramid:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1373584097

I realise that the Pyramid is actually only maybe 100 watts per channel. On a good day. I just want a bit more punch than the deh 77 head unit has.

So, anyone have direct experiance with either of these names?

Thanks,

Peter May

I really wouldn't get anything made by pyramid. Its all crap.

I have read sooooooo many negative things about them that I wouldn't even consider the stuff.

One of the things I have learned about car audio is that 99% of the time you get what you pay for.

I will also promise you that this amp will not do 1800watts and will probably blow anything you run off of it.

I don't you usually "brand bash" but I am trying to be honest.

For you audio needs I suggest you register at
termpro.com ALOT of free knowlege.

spend the same money on an older (yes - used) Soundstream, Orion, Kicker - or any of the better brands and you will be MUCH more satisfied than with any Pyramid or the like. I have been able to find used Xtant amps for pennies on the dollar to what they sold for new 4 years ago - and they are great! I don't mind not having the 'latest and greatest' stuff - and you may find that some of the older stuff is better anyway! It seems that once a small up-and-coming company like xtant comes along with amazing stuff, they get bought out a few years later, and the name gets attached to some "vanilla" equipment.

just an opinion..

Pyramid sucks.

Pay a few extra bucks and get something good. Otherwise you will have to get used to a high pitch scream through the speakers and lots of distortion.

OK, so if I read you guys correctly, stay away from Pyramid? i am still waiting for the deh 77 to show up. I have a sub already, I'll see if I truely need an amp for the other speakers once I get it installed. If I do, no pryamid..... Got to love the price though. But I gues a bucket of pig s*#$ would not cost that much either...

pyramid...man that brings back memories of high school back in '93...my friend traded a couple pack of smokes for 2 8" pyramid subs and we built a crappy box for them. we hooked up a series 7 hifonics colossus amp ( a true powerplant) and we "let the bass go boom". that voicecoil never had a chance hahaha!!

seriously, if it looks like crap, sounds like crap, then it must be crap!

Well, i was walking through an electronics supply place and found this: http://www.qkits.com/serv/qkits/vell...ages/K3503.asp
I always like to roll my own when I can and this seems kinda nice. Seperate mosfet power supplys for each amp. I'll just use it for the front speakers. I may need to get somthing for the rear. I have a 200 watt amp for the one 10" sub. Cant wait to see how it will sound.

if your looking at Rockford subs...look for old ones...the older ones where much better made ( since i have them i also could be baised haha )
I love my pioneer DEH6400 (with the indy car videos) reasonably priced for what you get...

pyramid sucks...friend bought a set of 6x9s off e-bay. "200w max"...we put 75 each from an amp to them and as soon as we played a song they where toast.....

planet audio > pyramid. PA is a very decent brand, especially for the money. just because some people have never heard of it, does not make it just as good as a big name like RF or pioneer.
