Hello! My name is Phil. I'm from Moscow, Russia and since 2012 I own a 1993 Caprice Classic that I use for everyday riding.
I thought it would be nice to meet some more people with same interests at the international level so I will be glad for any opportunity to connect with new friends here and share with them the joy and sorrow of the Caprice owning.
To buy some rare interior parts for the car will be a good idea too if it is possible. Why not?
What else to add? I love travelling, reading and social networking.
So... Just hello everybody! Feel free to contact me anytime:)

Hello Phil,

Welcome to the forum!

I don't have any interior parts for your '93, but would you like to trade Presidents? :)

You've found the best place to get good information and find parts for your car. I've had endless help from the knowledgeable people here.

Some good advice is read the "stickies" in the beginning of each section. You'll be amazed how much great information is there.

Again, Welcome.

Hello! Thank you!:) ill do my best and explore the different parts of the forum as soon as I return home to my desktop pc later.
It would be great to ask some questions but as you mention above I'll try to browse the forum first.
As for the parts I need perhaps later I create a topic with the photos of what I need. The most of the stuff is related to interior but soon I will need other parts:)
btw, through these 3 years I survived eith my car the frame-off process including the body and engine swap so I will be happy to share my experience as well (unfortunately as the user or "customer" since I do not any mechanic skills at all). Just ask:)

Thank you. Well, I think I am able to attach a few photos finally to this post.

I appreciate all the help and the attention I already receive from you in personal messages section and here.

BTW, if anybody wants to hang out in NYC in the middle of upcoming January, just let me know. I will be there for a few days to do a few promenades:)

Hello again. How are you?

I know that it's not the right forum segment to post a request about the parts I need, but since I'm still a newcomer here and the sum of my messages is really low, it's the only place I can do it.

I'm really looking for both Ruby Red front door panels for my Caprice *93 in fine condition.

The precise type / design of the panels I need looks like this:

If anyone can help me - I would appreciate that. Please, message me.

Thanx!

Good luck. Door panels are pretty weak on these cars and that is a rare interior color. The 91-93 door panel is slightly different than the 94-96 in the area where the panel meets with the dash.

Another option would be to repair yours if they are not too bad. Plastic welding with a soldering iron type device and 2 part plastic glues has worked fairly well for me. Or you can possibly buy panels of a different color and use a product like SEM interior dye to color them ruby red.

Thanx for the reply and the support.
Yeah, the color of the interior is a kind of headache for me , but I'm sure that I will be able to solve all the problems I have.
Certaintly, I'm sure that cracks on the panels can be repaired but I leave some more time for a hope to find other panels from a donor-car if there is or will be one.

Well, it seems I will be having almost 10 messages soon. Does that mean that soon I can make a topic in the proper forum segment with a list of all parts I need?

I think I'll post here from time to time the things I'm doing for the car.
This morning I've ordered these hubcaps to have another set for my second set of tires.
I've never driven a 70's Caprice but I was also fond of hubcaps' design of that era.
You want it. You've got it.

Well, it's time to post an update.
I was able to find a couple of back door panels in correct color. We were able to construct one good set from all of them. So, the 50% of interior problems are solved. At least for now.

Still there's a huge problem with front door panels.
I've removed mine just to see their condition and was a bit shocked by the already performed repair works by some previous owners of the car.

The condition is pretty bad and I do not have the different donor set to make a good one.
I think there's only one opportunity to find a different pair of the panels.
So... again
I will buy any set of front door panels in good condition with upper "leather" part. from 1993 to 1996 - ruby red (i know the difference between 93 and 94-96, but we will do all the proper things to make them look as they must look).
If anybody can help please let me know.
Thanx.

I have a pair of near perfect camel front door panels for a 91-93. They are extremely expensive to ship, probably in the $300-400 USD just for shipping. I would like $150 for them.

Thanx, guys.
I will check all your lists and the whole trade section of the forum.
In exchange I have some trim / emblems for boxy Caprice and some moldings for the 4th generation.
If anyone is interested - please let me know. I can create my own thread with parts that may be insteresting for some people here.
Shipping to the rest of the world from Moscow seems to be cheaper than the shipping to Moscow, but that's not a problem if the item is good enough.

p.s. This January I've done about 9k kilometres through a couple of West states. I think I've seen just about 2 or 3 Caprice's on the road. Are they so rare these days?
I had a hope to see some more:-/

Thanx, Fred. I hope to check this forum more often and be more active:)
All parts that you've sent me were great.

A little update to the recent events: I'm still using my car as a daily driver. Yesterday there was 7 years since I bought my Caprice.

Last week we found in the local village another one. 93 caprice with red cloth interior.
We will start the cleaning and parting out procedures today so if anyone needs something and the part is not sold - let me know. As practice shows, the delivery from Russia to US is cheaper than vice versa.

Check the color code on the interior. It could be Ruby Red or Dark Maple Red. They came with two red colors that year.

Loth,

It might just be me, but all your pics from Post #10 onward show as only a little box with grayed out mountainscape. Did you change pic hosting? For others seeing the same you can see them individually by right-clicking 'view image'.

#27 ·
Your interior trim color on your SPID (inside the trunk lid) will start with a 70 if it is Dark Maple Red. I do not know the color code for Ruby Red. If it is not 70, then it is probably Ruby Red.

#28 ·
If I understand correctly - Dark Maple Red & Ruby Red is the difference related only to the seats pattern, right?

BTW, can anybody advice me a good international hosting to upload photos? I see all photos in this thread, but I can imagine that some people can't see them because of different reasons:) thanx in advance.

Meanwhile, the field parting out activities are over:

I've got a plenty of interior stuff. If anybody need something - let me know.
And if anybody would like to join me via instagram, I would be glad to communicate.

The seat pattern is the same, but Ruby Red is a more bold red than the Dark Maple Red, which is more of a brownish red. There is a distinct difference between them when held beside the other.
