Rear Glass Rubber Molding - Group Purchase

Hello - Just an FYI as I'm putting my name in for 1 as well. There is a guy on Facebook (Daniel Hernandez aka...MrImapala) that may have someone re-popping these for $65 plus ship. He needs 100 orders and believe he has about 85 now. Just putting this out there in case anyone is interested.....

I assume this fits only the impala and caprice? And not a roadmaster or fleetwood, (factory skinned roof of course)? Anybody know for sure that the glass and this rubber piece is or is not interchangeable?

Something witty.

Looked attractive and was wondering the same, - as I will be doing another 'vinyl delete' to my current FWB. The back glass is different D- v. any Chevy B-. Can't answer defineat- deafeny- -for sure whether a D- is even close to a Buick B-, but D-'s out of contention for this GP in any case. The consolation is there's at least two no-vinyl FWs in a YD just across the river waiting for me.

\'96SS SOB: SSRI, Herter Tune, Tri-Y II, , 3000 Edge, F/HO bars, METCO extendeds with CV MMC, Bilsteins, currently Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta (315/35 rear). Finally, wait for it... LT-4 knock module!
\'96FWB BUW-Butt Ugly White: PCMPerformance tune, HDFA w/ swissed filter, 1/2 SLP s.s. catback with H- and Flow Super 50s, oem opti rebuilt 3 times, SS Bars, METCO LCA, Airlift 1000, Monroe SS, PowerTrax No-Slip, CTS wheels with +1 rubber. Finally, yes again... LT-4 knock module!

Good to know. I remembered from one of navylifer's threads that the vinyl roof fleets have different back glass than factory skinned roofs, but I didn't know whether they were the same as B's or not. I also sort of wonder just how specific that rubber piece is. Is it a single hoop piece all the way around? Or is it a single long piece that has a joint somewhere once you install it? I've never really looked that closely at it on mine, just makes me wonder if it's "close enough" that a little heat and careful manipulation could make it fit.

What I really need though is the multitude of rubber, plastic and whatever else they put around the side windows. From sitting outside so much all of mine are popping off, shrinking, tearing, I just never put enough (read, "any") effort into preserving those because I was always too busy working on the mechanicals, cosmetic stuff would come later. I know complete window surrounds were still available here and there in limited quantities a few years ago, nowadays I'm not too sure.

Something witty.

We're at risk of irreparably derailing this thread with FWB kurap, --- I started a thread in Fleetwood for ya.

No Worries as we know threads like to go down worm holes. But yes, from what I read it was ONLY B-Body Sedans. Can't answer 1 way or the other around other Body types. Maybe check with him and see if the vendor he is going to use will do the same for other cars.

Not being familiar with this Molding or how it is secured to the car, it looks like reading his thread that these wrap around the glass before install. Maybe someone more familiar with this could chime in on what's involved to get this installed. But it sure looks like these get installed to the Glass after the glass has been removed. I do have a "parts car" that I'll be pulling the rear glass to save for a spare and may figure it out then.

Not a Glass guy or really sure what's involved to get this installed. But if you paint your car and do it right with the Glass removed....this little bugger could be 1 valuable piece to finishing your Project the right way. I'm far from a repaint but at least I'll have it when I do.

His post......

If you are getting your car repainted now or in the near future or if yours is dry rotted and coming apart. this is the part you need. You can't get this part anywhere! This moulding wraps around the whole rear glass and get old and brittle.

I worked very hard in the past month with calls and emails trying to convince the company who supplies them and the one who makes them, to sell them to me. They only like to sell to very large glass companies, something i am not. I Want to make it easy for the B-Body community to order them from me.
Thank you!
