VATS bypass!

Hello everyone:

I've read the posts on the PASS key bypass and did the resistor set up beneath the dash to bypass the key resistance. While the car seems to respond a little better, I still have issues with the PASS circuit. I'm thinking it's the module.

If I was to go into the tune and uncheck the VATS constant, would the VATS be bypassed altogether, or will it still give me some problems.

I have TunerCat and can go in to the constant page and uncheck the VATS.

Insight here would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

OK, so I answered my own question. It turns out that last year when I had my new computer tuned, the VATS was unchecked. I didn't know this, and when I read the PCM yesterday, the VATS constant was unchecked. We still have issues with the VATS, so it appears that even if the VATS constant is unchecked, there will still be issues with it.

It looks like we'll have to bypass the VATS module all together.

The VATS unchecked in the PCM only allows fuel not to be shut off during a security breach. But the VATS itself is still run by the BCM. That is why a resistor matching the resistance in the key has to be wired in.

I see, thanks for the response. I would like to bypass the module all together. Unfortunately, my FSM is missing the electrical portion since it was given to me by an old Cadillac dealer and they completely abused the book.

Any ideas here on how to bypass the VATS all together?

Thanks.
