95 SS Won't start :(

Just bought it. Car has been "sitting" for 10 years. It was ran periodically until about 3 years ago. There was mice in the garage for a little while, and there's poop all over the engine bay. I guess that means there's pee too. Can't find any chewed/frayed wires. Changed the oil and battery yesterday, and tried to start it. Engine cranks fine but won't start.

I pulled a plug, and there is spark. Not super bright, but it's a spark. Engine will kick over a few times if I spray some starting fluid into the throttle body.

Thought there might have been bad gas, so I tried to empty it out, but it was already empty. Put 5 gallons of new gas in there and checked the fuel pump is working, and there is fuel pressure at the rail.

I checked the fuses in the engine bay, and everything related to the fuel system is good. There is also a relay but I don't know how to check if that is ok or not.

In my mind, that leaves me with either the relay, 8 stuck injectors....or they are just not firing for some reason. I could understand a few stuck injectors from varnish and whatnot after sitting but not all of them. How can I verify if the injectors are getting power or not? Can I do it with a volt meter? What am I looking for in terms of volts?

Engine is a Callaway 383 if that makes any difference. I was really hoping to bring her back from the dead this weekend :(

Fuel, Spark, and air? You can check fuel pressure, invest in a fuel pressure gauge from autozone. The fitting it screws into is on the back side of the fuel rail close to the fire wall, should be 40PSI give of take when cranking. If the car has been sitting pull the air box apart and make sure mice are not in there and spend 6 bucks and invest in a new airfilter. If the coil, icm of opti is bad that will prevent spark. Hope you get the car running man. Is the car a genuine calloway SS?

I didn't check the pressure with a gauge, I was just stupid and forgot to relieve the pressure in the fuel lines before taking them off. Which resulted in a gasoline shower! lol! Battery is new as well. At first I Was worried about the spark being weak but when the car kicked over using starting fluid, I figured the spark was ok. I'm waiting for my noid light to show up...apparently no normal auto parts store stocks them. Not even autozone. Of course I guess I could just yank the fuel rail with the injectors, crank the car and actually look and see of they are spraying.

It's not a supernatural ss...it does have the 383 and some transmission work. Still waiting to get all the paperwork on the car.

If the car is not sitting level and the tank was empty, 5 gal may not be enough gas to get it started again. I have had that experience a couple of years ago. I would add another 3 or 4 gallons and do the things suggested above
I was thinking the same thing, but with the fuel line in the engine bay disconnected and the fuel pump on I get good flow..and like I said the rail is pressurizing.

I wouldnt go that far, you would need all new seals for the injectors and risk dropping someting in the ports. Try checking the easy stuff. Possibly more gas in the tank, verify 40PSI at rail, and all grounds (this could be why the spark looked weak). The engine ground is on the driver side top of engine mounted to the firewall. The are several grounds on the front of the driver side head next to the coil and icm. Maybe they are corroded and the individual ring terminals need cleaned. Also check the ground on the passenger fender that grounds the battery

Well I need to verify it's not a fuel delivery problem. I guess I have to wait until my noid light shows up. With all the cranking, there's no smell of gas coming from the intake manifold or out of the tail pipe...and we cranked the engine over a lot. Plus like I said, the engine will turn over a few times if I open up the TB and spray some starting fluid in there. I will check everything mentioned here but for right now I really feel that the injectors are not spraying for some reason. I would hope they're just clogged up because that's the easiest fix. I can't say I believe all 8 injectors would be gummed up though. Maybe a few but not all of them. But, I would be happy if that's the case because I don't feel like dealing with an electrical problem right now lol

Didn't know I need new seals. On my GTO you can just pop the rail and injectors off the intake and put them back when you're done.

Consider sending the injectors out for cleaning/evaluation. Who recommended "starting-fluid" anyway? Quit using it before you damage something,or get hurt.

I did it just to see if the engine would turn over. My issue is I want to be sure what the problem is instead of throwing money at it and hoping to get lucky. I guess I'll have to wait for my light to arrive.

Well, I'm 99.99% sure what the problem is. I got a noid light and the injectors are getting a pulse. I bought a fuel pressure gauge and pressure is spot on perfect. Then pulled the fuel rail and cranked it to see if the injectors were spraying, and there's nothing. So, we're pretty sure the injectors are ****ed. Could be worse. She's close to coming back to the world of the living! :D

No, but they're all getting the pulse...unless the noid light is lying to me. I didn't believe all 8 were stuck either, believe me...but fuel is good, spark is there and power to the injectors is there so I can't come up with any other reason.

Fuel injectors

Either send the injectors out for cleaning/evaluation,or get another set.
