Bleeding Cooling System

Or if you work on cars , invest in a vacuum bleeder ;)

" problem" with the later 95 and 96 is without the bleed hose on the top of the right tank to the expansion tank you can still have a some air in the rad that only time and velocity will get out.

People " assume " the thermostat housing is the outlet , which its not.

Thinking on that , I think raising the nose might actually be counter productive.

Yeah , I think with an electric the bleed process would be easier as the coolant would be at max speed just sitting in the driveway.

As I have mentioned before I work on cars that
1: are imposible to bleed without vacuum
2 :you dont get the opportunity (sp) to rebleed before it counts.

I use my vacuum bleeder even on cars that are not particularly air lock challenged and still just find it so much easier.

Yeah and look at the coolant path in an lt1.

The only way for air to get out of the heads is down about 4 inches or out the BACK of the heads !

Enough dead horse beating for me today.

Got a way that works for you ? Then carry on.

If a guy was " clean slating " a bleeder on the rad tank or the upper rad hose.
My car with the LS , I retain the rad to expansion bleed line but with a restrictor .

In hindsight would have put in a one way valve too so air could never be pulled from tank to rad, but being a dual pass, never saw the issue

( note this is an LS )
My reasoning behind the restrictor is any water going through that hose is short cutting the rad.
Hot out of engine - to surge tank - right back to engine.

I only want enough flow to purge air .

My comment on one way valve would pertain more to a single pass rad when the bleed was one the cold return to water pump. At certain times there could be situations where the cold side of the rad could pull air out of the surge tank.
The OE's use them a lot and the only evidence is a suspicious lump and a clamp in the middle of a hose somewhere.

The Boss S I work on has one ( as well as street Coyotes ) and it was in backwards from the factory !!!!!!
