My local wrench says to avoid drilled/slotted rotors here in Pittsburgh since I drive the car through the winter months (with the help of Blizzaks). He says they'll look bad from the slush and salt. True? Thanks.

Humm, now I'm a bit curious too. The salt slush and grime will make things rust thats for sure. But where the pad rubs on the rotor, it shouldn't get rusty (unless the car sits for a long long time). If your running stock wheels, you can't see a whole lot of the brakes/rotors anyway. The only part you'll see (where the pads ride) will look the same no matter what kind of rotor is it (e.i. solid rotor, slotted, cross drilled).

There will be some truth to his statement. The holes will hold moisture and salt and eventually start to rust. However, this should only be cosmetic. After all, don't we all rinse off our under carraige from time to time after driving in snow? Shame on you if you don't. :(

Frank: Avoid the drilled ones for safety reasons as previously discussed many times on this forum. I don't think slotted ones will suffer in our climate. I use my 94 9c1 year round. Dimpala95.. you CA guys are all alike, wash the underside of my car? For portions of the winter my dark gray car is more white (from the salt) than gray. You need to experience a good midwest 4 month crappy winter!!!!! Spoken in jest of course.
