I'm putting together a list of AN fittings and hose for a little project. The Summit brand stuff works out to$138.00. Earls is $ 196.00 Has anybody used the Summit brand stuff? I wonder if Earls or Aeroquip is worth the difference in cost.

I don't remember which, but regarding Earls and Russell one is definately better than the other (I don't have examples in front of me). Not too much of an issue with 1/8" and 1/4" hose, but when getting into the bigger hose diameters you can easily strip the threads of the 2 pieces of the fitting. As you finish the tighening of the two fittings together, the total thread engagement between the two reduces (they walk off one another as you reach the last few turns when hose compression is getting extremely tight) and the threads strip with a hose assembly not fully tightened. btdt.

This is not an issue with Aeroquip. They are more expensive but worth it, and all I'll use on any braided stainless hose.

my buc2fifty.

Like all Summit branded stuff, they are made by a big name company and just come in a Summit box. The trick is finding out which company makes them. Usually the order guy will tell you if you ask, he should have that info on hand. If he doesn't know, the guys at the Summit Tech line will know the answer. Guess what I'm sauing is give them a call and ask who makes them

Have to politely disagree with bugman - used to be true.
Summit is buying so many parts from the Chinese importers like Wysco, Super Sunny, & Proform now that a lot of their house brand stuff is Chinese.
Can't assume that the stuff is private label Earl's or Russell anymore.
I've used some of the Chinese stuff without any problems, just have to be cautious. More chances for mfg. defects. The guys making the parts don't know what they are. If it doesn't look or feel right, don't use it(like everything else in life, right?)
BTW - The "Made in the USA" laws are total crap. As long as there is an operation performed on the parts in the USA (including repackaging) you can say it's made here. I bitch because I'm a USA MANUFACTURER.
My personal preferences for hose ends or fittings are XRP & Goodridge. Goodridge stuff is pricy but XRP stuff is reasonable. Check around for pricing. A bunch of the Roundy Pounders (circle track guys) use XRP stuff, and use way more of it than we ever will.

I called Summit and was told. "Gee,we change suppliers so often any more they won't tell us who makes our stuff." I am running lines for a bigger oil cooler on the new motor so I just bought the Earls fittings and hose. I've used them before with good results. Thanks for the input and suggestions.
