My 96 BBB with 71,000 miles and new EGR valve is stumbling a bit at light throttle. The CEL is on. My scantool shows a code P0174.... which states "System Too Lean (Bank 2)"

Can anyone advise on what this actual problem is? Is it the O2 sensors, or something else? How to fix it also???

thx much in advance........ Kurt

I'm gonna bet your manifolds or headers need to be tightened at the block!

you might want to clean the MAf and check the fuel pressure. But I'll bet the manifold is loose.

What side is bank 2. cyl 2 passenger right?

TAD out

There is a small rubber elbow that attaches to the PCV valve on the left side (driver side) of the intake manifold. If you still have homeplate, you might have to remove it. That rubber elbow will deteriorate over time, usually on the underside. This pulls in fresh air and your PCM will compensate with more fuel until it hits the enrichment limit and then a code is set. This may not be your problem, but I have seen it happen at least a half dozen times. An easy check anyway

I Believe that RPO-B4Z has it hit right on the Head. I had the same Fault code and was scratching my - - s. Looking for an answer and accidentally found it. I did the Home Plate Delete and in the Process noticed that the elbow from my PCV Valve was Deteriorated and was sucking air. I replaced the elbow and havent had a repeat of that fault since and have gone another 10,000+ miles. :D

bank two means, O2 sensor, an is after the cats, but i will double check on that, an as for the code, i will look at the all data system an give you an answer tomorrow, but don't disregard the grumets an also check the lower hose that goes to the throttle body from the canester silenoid on the passenger side, that little hose breaks down an the car revs high, an gives you codes.
