Just bought a 94 impala ss and kinda purchased it knowing it needs some maintance so heres what its doing yesterday went to get a smog check done gotta do it since im in southern cali but neways so in the process of getting smog done the fuel pump burnt out so i had that fixed/replaced now the next issue is the car is idling rough when i come to stop at lights so this morning i replaced the MAF an had new plugs put in after i replaced the MAF the car feels like it has more power now but still idling rough an sputtering on take offs theres no check enegine light to run codes an oh yea the driver side exhaust has like a spouter sound like it has a cam kinda an when i bought the car it had a overheating problem so i bought a new therm sensor an bypassed the relay so a fan stays on all times so what else should i check or look into ? the exhaust manifold or fuel injectors id really appreciate the help thanks guys

Read my post here: http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?t=336177

The sputtering sound on the right rear of your motor is likely a broken exhaust manifold bolt - common on these cars. Search the exhaust section 'stickies'.

Also, go to 'User CP' at the left end of the blue bar above and add an approximate location (NY, LA, STL) in case their is someine in your area rhat might want to help.

You looked back in where?...You need to include as much info as possible, we suck at mind reading...at least I do. I bet you have several things going on. Did the fuel filter get changed with the pump? Before you screwed with the fans did they work as they were supposed to? How did you know the MAF was bad? Might have just been dirty. Sounds like you have the infamous broken exhaust bolt on the drivers side, The last one back by the firewall. If that is where you looked and saw a bunch of oil then the rear of the intake is probably leaking.

Why would you take it to be smogged when it wasn't running right? You do know what a hassle it will become if it fails a couple of more times, don't you? Make sure it is right before going on record again of another failure with the DMV. Put the fans back in correct working order. Good luck.
