its not really adjusting a tps, more than getting the required voltage set to where it needs to be..i know other sensors have parameters they operate within, but when they start to get old, they dont work as well..the IAC i need to be able to view the "counts" to properly set my idle speed, to not set a code.

Elm327 devices are great for newer cars with enhanced operating systems. Now for the kicker, '96 only has about 45 fields that are supported by this device. Tps, iac and 02 readings are not among them. Even HPT tuners scanner does not detect the fields you are looking to read. The scanner is not the limiting factor, it is the pcm operating system.

Cliff this is what I tried to explain to you when you came to Lab and why I prefer obd1 for LT1's.

And the reason I switch the obd2 out with the obd1 to run a diagnosis on your caprice.

You can come by and I can turn the codes off for you no problem (cost you a case Bud light bottles)
or just send it back to Ed wright and wait for-wait for it- wait for it-

As far as a hand held scanner for majority of the cars, the genisys is by far my favorite and its cheaper than almost everything else. At our school we had brand new snap-on units that hadnt even come out yet and there was way too much going on and it took FOREVER to turn it on and shut it down let alone it was $13,000.

If the product is good (definitely on the low end of an already inexpensive product line...which worries me somewhat), I've an ELM OBD2 scanner and it works great. Won't take you long to hook up at all. Enable GPS and bluetooth on the droid. Pair the device. Install and initiate app. Off you go...

Just wanted to say you can pull, read & clear codes and datalog, but you can't re-program w/ it. This still requires traditional hardware/software alternatives.

EDIT:
I installed Torque Lite on a Galaxy Player 5.
I started the car and plugged the thing in.
Searched for the device on the Galaxy and pluggin in the pairing code 1234.
It worked on first try.
Then i messed around with the app to learn all the features and the ones that don't seen to work (I hope cuz its the free version)
Fuel pressure and Voltage i remember not working....
can't wait to have the wife drive me around so i can play with it...

I have my wife drive so i can datalog all the time. Usually after a late evening after a night of "tuning" in the parking lot.
