Front bumper cover molding question

I searched but could find any reference to this.

I need to replace my front bumper cover on a stock 96 DGGM Impala SS.

Is there such thing as a Front Bumper Cover Molding?

I thought front bumper cover was one piece, but the bodyman thinks there is a additional "molding" piece on the front bumper cover. It is like a strip that runs the width of the bumper.

He says the molding piece is no longer available from GM, but the front bumper cover is.

Is this information about the "molding" piece true?

Thanks,

Yea i believe he's right. At least my new stock aftermarket bumper needed a moulding. It was only available in chrome in my case. Well I damn sure didnt want chrome so i painted mine. Actually I put down a piece of vinyl (sticker) first and painted that. Paint sticks to vinyl better than chrome IMO.

I believe the part is referred to as an "impact strip" and you have the 1long piece on the front and the 2 short side pieces on the rear bumper.

Thanks you guys for the information, that was super helpful. Now I know it exists and where to source it. I'll post back what I end up getting.

We decided to source a new Molding in black and will paint it DGGM. The DGGM is the color discontinued, black continues to be manufactured.

Thanks again,
