NEW PROBLEM PLEASE HELP, i installed the new sending unit,i then started it up but i cut it off to check under the car for fuel leaks and i found 1,its comming from the fuel line where it connects to the sending unit tube, i noticed when i was taking off the fuel lines when i was using the fuel line tool the little clip thats sits in the tube popped out and got bent,i had put it back in the line but didnt look like it was sitting in there tight like the other clip that was in the other line, do they sell those metal clips???? they was some plastic ones on the sending unit when i bought it but dont know if they work??? any help please

I wouldn't but that's just me. The metal part inside the end of the line just keeps the line from backing off of the hard line. The multiple o-rings are what take care of sealing. What condition are the o-rings in?
Here are some pics of the line I repaired.

i so happen to stumble up on the little plastic peice like the 1 pictured above next to the metal retainer i thought it looked like the 1 pictured,it had like a flanged out lip at the end of it, so i wonder is this the peice thats not in my line making it leak? so does the plastic peice sit on the backside of the reatainer flanged part to it then the o rings bend the plastic peice???? so there supose to be 3 o rings behind the plastic ring? is the half o ring at the end supose to look like that pictured abave????

judging from the pics theres two o-rings (one torn) separated by two plastic spacers plus the retainer.
looks like he pulled the fitting off of the plastic fuel line but I dont know if it will seal ok or you have to trim the fuel line a little bit to get a tighter fit.
I believe napa sells an o-ring kit for fuel fittings so might try that.

but i dident do this i was in a hurry not even sure if it will work so i cut the fiting out of the oem line then went and bought one like this but mine was all metal not plastic like this one and put some oil on it and pushed and twisted till it went in the line good enough then used a small metal hose clamp and it hasent leaked in months http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/d...082/N1651.oap?ck=Search_fuel_N1651_1037483_3681&keyword=fuel&pt=N1651&ppt=C0290

In the picture marked assembly sequence, all of those o-rings and spacers go in from right to left with the metal clip being the last part installed. I just went out to the junkyard and cut off several new ends. In my case, I have the tool to replace the end. In your case you should just need the o-rings and use a pick to remove all of the parts and replace what's needed.

O-ring, spacer, o-ring, guide spacer, metal clip for a bottom to top assembly order.

You shouldent have to drop tank I dident I bet you only need that first o ring in top cause thats what riped on mine you should be able to just put the o rings in with something small idk but If I were in your postion like I was at one point I would just go buy a new conector ooo ya and you can put the new one in the like like oem with a chaking gun and a brake flaring tool that autozone will lend to u thats just.me pluss the new conector has the built in tool so if you ever have to take it off

Yeah, you probably could. After all, if the hose clamp comes off inside the tank on the pump what's the worst that can happen? If the line comes off the metal portion of the feed line and blasts fuel all over a hot exhaust-Hey! That's what insurance is for right? :D

You can race a train and you may even win.

You need to ask yourself what the penalty for failure is. Burning the car down? Watching friends or family BBQ in the back seat because you wanted to half ass it?

If I was sure I would get my kit back, I'd mail it to you for the repair. If your line isn't rusting to the point where it's crumbling, it can be rebuilt without removal unless you're just lazy and looking for the easy way out. You need to stop working on your car and take it to a professional. :/
