95% done. Just need to finish border tape around the back half and patch up side gaps. I am no expert with electrical and had no desire to dismantle radio/dash to connect temp sensor and compass. These items aren't important to me so I just hooked up the lights. Wasn't hard to do, really with the great directions from Langness in the sticky. The most time consuming part was trying to fill the little gaps around the console base where headliner "felt" meets the base edges. I did not like the uneven parts so decided to cover edges with tape over a thin rubber gasket piece from Ace. I know it looks kinda ghetto, but I can live with it. Any better ideas what to use for border?

I went a different route when I installed mine. Even though I installed it in my crappy cappy
I couldn't fathom cutting up my headliner like it says I'm the writeup. I cut slits where the bump is on the headliner an it slid right in nice and perfect. People say it would get to hot or burn something but that bogus to me. Mines been installed for years with no issues at all. You really should take the time to get the compass and temp working. To me that's the whole point of doing this mod. It looks good though.

Astro/Blazer Console

Nice job on the console, but DO take the time and hook up the Temp gauge. IIRC - Only 1 wire to run out to the sending unit mounted to the hood latch.

I did mine years ago and will be pulling soon for a new Headliner. I also didn't like how the trim gapped at the seams whenI cut the HL. This time, I will cut the headler cardboard from the backside and leave a little extra material there to tuck in as I push the Console in place.

Anyone else interested in this mod, he is a very good link ---->>

To fill the gaps, and provide a more finished look? I went to an auto trim shop and they suggested a length of cord thick enough to fill the gap, wrapping matching headliner material around the cord, and stitching it lengthwise. When I got it home, all I had to do was stuff the "tails" into the gap. I was left with a round "bead" of headliner material that not only filled the gap,but provided a nice transition from the headliner to the console. 30 dollars well spent.
