What are the pros and cons of installing Dynamat all over my 94 SS. I know it will helps with my audio sound, and stops outside noise. What else is it good for, and what are the main negatives of it. I heard its really heavy and can weigh down my car. Help me out please. I am torn between installing it, and not doing it.

The only con is the expense- install as much as you can afford!

No cons that i can think of. I noticed the differance right away much quieter than before. I used fatmat. Way cheaper the dynamat. I used 100sqft and it compeletly covered the whole floor, trunk, and back dash. Still need to do the doors and roof.

I bought FrostKing self adhesive, closed cell rubber foam/aluminium foil faced, DUCT insulation. f/ lowes.

Works great, much cheaper than Dynomat.

Cost and weight are the only cons, if it's not just a drag strip car and you want reduced road noise and better sound do it.

I used 2-1/2 rolls of Raammat... Great product and price and proven.

Just because a product is cheap, doesnt make it good. Especially if it is made for home use/roofing/oil based. Just wait until a really hot day and you have adhesive dripping in your car/tar chemical fumes that you cant get rid of.

As for weight, I believe I added 65-80 lbs.. Our cars are 4400 lbs and V-8, what's a lil more weight when you are adding a bunch more with Audio Equipment?

keeps cops and jealous people from eyeing you. its worth the cost and time and weight added.i forget what i have, but the stuff is like 40 lbs i used just for the trunk. i have to really bang the music hard to be heard from the outside

That'd be nice, don't really want to attract more cops with my ride... my exhaust does that enough by itself ;)

FrostKing closed cell duct insulation, was created to stick on HOT AIR DUCTS. I have had it on my Impala for over a year, in hot cali sun. Including underside of roof panel. No goop, or foul odor.

120 sq ft would do full coverage of a lesser quality product.

Stick to 80+ mil for less work and more effectiveness. Thicker and strategic placement will put you in higher quality deadners and less vigor installing it.

Dynamat Extreme
AudioTechnix
Second Skin pro
BXT II

You'll only need 70-80 percent coverage.

I have not one panel on the interior of my car atm. Having the 2 18s running in here Im surprised at how rigid the car is in general. The roof and rear quarters seem to be the flattest of any sheet metal in the car.

With my experience so far you could bulk pack this car in the right areas and deplete all resonance issues with an average stereo or noise reduction install. The rear window and windshield also hold up well with flex ;)

If your about to deaden I would aim at roof, rear quarters, rear deck and wheel wells first. Theres enough radial strength among other parts around the body including the floor to only have to spot deaden. The door outer skins for sure if your doing aftermarket audio in them or just after the luxury quiet approach.

Just my experiences so far. We all like to save a buck right? This should be a good approach to begin dampening this car. I just believe my system is aggressive enough to make these statements. Its pretty beast in this thing and Ive been thru some deadening installs.

Most dont require heat guns in product descriptions but dont count it out. I swear by it for surface coverage. It just contours better and makes for more contact area with any product. Dont lazy out even tho its meant to be "easy to install".

heavy duty rollers work better than the little dinky finger cramper that comes with some. Not that it doesnt work but big areas take too long with that thing...lol

Behold the rubber mallet. My deadening friend. Just light wacks around large panels to see where you might wanna double up while your deadening. Lay it wack it add it if necessary.
