95 RM wagon LT1. I noticed the program for the transmission has a seoerate table for "performance setting" I don't believe this is being used on this car as both tables seem the same. Where is the signal input to use performance mode? I noticed some cars have a switch near the shifter for this, can I add a switch and use it to choose between the 2 tables?

I installed a lighted pushbutton in my 95 to switch between normal and performance mode.
Pin 13 on the gray connector is the mode switch. Install a momentary pushbutton that grounds this pin.
Pin 15 on red connector is the lamp. The PCM provides a ground on this pin when the performance mode is selected. I don't know how much current this pin is designed to sink. The pushbutton I picked has an LED built into it and I added a 1k ohm current limiting resistor to keep from blowing the LED.
I can't find the switch on Radio Shack's site, they seem to have really cut back on their selection... :(

The Impala SS didn't use it in the PCM either...the only car that did from the factory as far as I know, was the trans-am. Basically, you can up the shift points a bit and I think you can also change line pressure in some other places...so if you copy stock tables into the "performance" ones, then mess around with it all just a bit...you can see what changes you like and what you don't and go from there.
