I've always felt that way. It's 70's technology.
Whenever I turn, unless I'm in a long turning lane or something, I just hold it on without clicking it to try to prolong its life. So far, so good.

It's such a shame that the B-body didn't hold on for another 5 years or so because GM's
quality really improved from the mid-90's thru the early 2000's. Plus it would have gotten
some version of the LS1.

Haha glad I'm not the only one.. As petty as it might seem, it was one of the reasons why I didn't drive the car very often. That and the arm rest on the left side is too far (i'm short).

 

Haha i thought the same thing i kept thinking i was going to break it. while were on the subject i have a turn signal out of a 88 caprice would it would with my car? Its brand new thats why i want to use it.

 

If you take apart the column and grease up the turn signal switch it moves alittle bit smoother and quiet. But.. Who needs signals anyway!

Haha, well if a lot of us have this problem, sure there has to be some kind of solution.... Or not really?

 

i didnt drive the car for a few months, went to drive it and thought it was stuck it take so much effort to move it, anyone else think the interior was designed in a hour

 

When the mechanism breaks, you just take off the steering wheel and replace the offending bits. Not a bad job for a Saturday afternoon.
