Ive got nothing to offer on the DBW stuff... but I did notice you were in Santa Maria... Im in San Luis Obispo. What you got going down there?

 

Having tuned and installed big and modded LS-x motors I have to say I prefer drive by cable.

The drive by servo systems are difficult to get good idle manners from on large cams. This is due to the throttle being the Idle air control.

The major trait that bugs me is that you go to all the effort to build a snappy & responsive motor and the servor is slow on whipping the throttle open.

As much as I like computers I prefer to have my foot run the motor. My foot does not require interpritation.

Plus you have to use the PCM which has DBW capabilities. Many don't but will still drive the LSx sensors and systems. Plus with bigger cams the DBW can be a problem.

I think drive-by-wire also makes it difficult to do burn-outs.

 

Ok...but if you're totally content w/a stock cam and are just concerned w/ease of installation, which is easier? Not knowing anything, I was assuming that folks were jettisoning the DBW for ease of installation not drivability. If that is not correct I'd like to understand. If it is (that DBW install is harder), I'm hoping to find some info why. Is it just getting a place to mount the floor pedal assembly or what?
