Long time no speak...

I would like to install bucket seats in my caprice, what all do i need from my original seats before i get rid them?

And where a goo place to get the seats from?

You can adapt any seats to the rails you have. The rails give you the front/back and tilt motions. The seats just sit on them.

If you use two passenger seats, you can get the equivalent of buckets for cheap.

Do you want aftermarket seats or seats from an Impala or Bonneville?

The seat rails would be a wise thing to keep.
Thanx guys i learned some new today
I will be in the make for some seats tomorrow!!

... confused... happens easily... he seems to want to 'install bucket'(s), so ergo he has a bench. Won't he need bucket rails to install bucket seats?

Don't believe there are any true bench seats anymore. Only 60/40 seats (usually both power, but not always) that mount the same. As Fred stated,if you use two passenger seats it's practically the same thing as buckets.

There are a few Caprices with bench seats. Most have 60/40 splits that have separate tracks, and that is what I assumed. The true benches are manual only. I have seen 2 or 3 in the last 5-6 years. There is also the technique of removing the brace for the arm rest support, and hog ringing the remaining material to the frame for a faux bucket. When you put the console in, you barely notice the mod.

I was able to sit in a Bonneville this afternoon and really enjoyed the seats, so i thinking of doing a swap to those what a good suggestion as far as a counsel piece for the floor

A lot of people use Blazer consoles. They fit fairly well. The only part that is an issue is the broad front that does not fit tight against the floor on the driver's side. Once it is in for a week or two, you do not notice it any more.

There are two kinds. One has a big tray in the front, and the other has a mount for a CD disc changer. You could put gauges in the opening if you are inclined to add gauges.

I am using a Taurus SHO console with my t56 swap. I have yet to finalize the fitment but on the whole it fits well . I just had to trim the hole for the shifter a little larger to accommodate the manual. A short throw shifter is next on the list because that would make it a lot easier to get everything mounted exactly where I want it.
