I plan on using Solomon from LT1PCMTuning hopefully here in the next day or so. His is a mail in tune though so I am not sure if you are interested in that.

 

Welcome to the ImpalaSS Forum. As mentioned, there is little purpose in other than simply mailing in the ecm to whomever is doing the tune. You'll need a pretty concise list of what mods have been performed, along with what parameters you need or want changed. I can recommend the name listed in the signature line for my Cadillac. That firm has a detail sheet to be filled out to make the process and expectations better understood by both parties.
Also, there is word that another well-regarded tuner may have become available again. You might try contacting Bryan Herter Programmer@pcmforless.com who did the tune for my Impala SS many years ago.

PCMPerformance.com has maintained a solid reputation unblemished for many years now.

Also, there is word that another well-regarded tuner may have become available again.
You might try contacting Bryan Herter Programmer@pcmforless.com who did the tune for my Impala SS many years ago.

Bryan Herter has also kept his reputation in good stead since the early 2000s.
If you go with pcmforless, just avoid Keith, is all.

There are a few other mail-order options besides the three mentioned above.

You WON’T be disappointed with his service or his tuning capabilities. The V4P is a strange beast to tune and he did it perfectly.

He’s too humble to recommend his own services, but I’ll gladly sing his praises. Support a great guy from this forum and keep him around for his knowledge and funny responses!

I called a few other places and none were as responsive nor as personable as our own forum celebrity.

I’ve Now installed headers and 2.5” exhaust and marky made some updates for me - couldn’t ask for more.

For shame, Marky-. You've been quite effective at hiding your candle under a bushel. But great adding yet one more experienced mainstay to the list.

Solomon's tuning advice will make those who want to self-tune very happy, especially given the advances embodied by TunerPro, FlashHack, and $EEhack.

With no intent to disparage those who are under the mistaken impression that OE is always best:
Most of the LT1s & 4L60Es that survive past 2030'll have been tuned one way or another.

Proper tunings will help more LT1s & 4L60E's be more fun and live longer.

 

FlashHack is great at protecting a pcm from Medusa's gaze, so long as the pcm stays powered.
However, although it is rare, once Medusa fixes her eyes upon a pcm ...
... and that pcm has been powered down ...
it's a brick - or a core, if you prefer.

I forgot to mention Trimalyzer, because it is of limited use for most mail-order tunes.
For self-tuners who are looking for better MpGs (especially in Open Loop), Trimalyzer is indeed the golden egg.
